What we move

Cargo we handle on the Netherlands – Romania lane

From single pallets out of Venlo distribution centres to containers cleared at the port of Rotterdam.

Two very different types of freight travel this lane. The first is Dutch-origin cargo, picked up from a manufacturer or distributor. The second is cargo that only transits the Netherlands: containers arriving from Asia or North America, cleared and devanned at Rotterdam, then moved onward by road.

For sea freight, we collect after customs clearance and devanning, either from the port or from the unpacking warehouse. You do not need to appoint a separate Dutch haulier for the port leg and an international carrier for the rest — we handle the full door-to-door movement.

🚢 Port of Rotterdam

Collection after customs clearance and container devanning, direct from the terminal or the unpacking warehouse.

📦 Venlo and Eindhoven

Dense cluster of European distribution centres, which means faster pickup scheduling than remote locations.

💻 Tech and electronics

High-value, low-volume cargo, suited to groupage or to express when the deadline is tight.

🇷🇴 Nationwide delivery

After deconsolidation in Bacău, goods move on to any location in Romania, including delivery to the end customer.

How pricing works

How groupage rates are calculated

Charged per pallet or per loading metre, with volumetric weight applied to light, bulky cargo.

Groupage is charged on the space your cargo occupies, not on distance. A standard euro pallet of 120 × 80 cm takes up 0.4 loading metres of a 13.6 m trailer, which has 33 pallet positions. Where goods are bulky but light, volumetric weight applies: the rate follows the space taken, not the scale reading, because space runs out before tonnage does.

Rates depend on the lane, the volume, the season and whether pallets are stackable, so we do not publish fixed prices. Send us the dimensions and the gross weight and you will have a quote within two hours, per pallet or per loading metre.

As a rule of thumb, groupage is the cheaper option up to about 15 pallets. Above that, a full truck usually works out lower per pallet and arrives two to three days sooner.

Full truck and express

Full truck loads and 3.5t express

Two alternatives when groupage does not fit the volume or the deadline.

FTL 40t uses a 13.6 m curtainsider or mega trailer carrying 33 euro pallets or up to 24 tonnes of payload, running direct with no intermediate stops. Transit is 3-4 working days. It is the right choice above 15 pallets, for fragile cargo that should not be handled repeatedly, and for fixed delivery dates.

Express 3.5t is a dedicated van departing within 24 hours of confirmation, with a transit time of 2-3 days and a payload of roughly 1,200 kg or 8-10 euro pallets. It is used when a production line is waiting on a part, when samples must arrive before a deadline, or when a shipment has missed the weekly groupage departure.

Temperature-controlled transport is available on this lane from −24 °C to +14 °C, on groupage and on full truck loads. It is not available on the 3.5t express service. The set point is agreed per booking and held for the whole journey. State the temperature range with your enquiry, as it determines the vehicle assigned.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions – Netherlands to Romania

How long does transport from the Netherlands to Romania take?
Groupage transit is 5-7 working days from collection. A full 40t truck covers the same distance in 3-4 working days, and 3.5t express in 2-3 days.
Can you collect cargo from the port of Rotterdam?
Yes. We collect after customs clearance and container devanning, either from the terminal or from the unpacking warehouse, and deliver to any address in Romania.
What is the minimum shipment size?
One pallet. Groupage is charged per pallet or per loading metre occupied, so small consignments travel on the same terms as large ones.
Which Dutch cities do you collect from?
Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Venlo, Eindhoven, Utrecht, Tilburg and Breda, along with the surrounding logistics areas.
How much does it cost to send a pallet to Romania?
Rates are calculated per pallet or per loading metre and depend on the lane, volume and season, so we do not publish fixed prices. Send dimensions and weight for a quote within two hours.
Do you carry dangerous goods under ADR?
Yes, packaged dangerous goods travel on both groupage and full loads, provided packaging, labelling and documentation comply with ADR and the cargo is compatible with the rest of the load.
What documents are required?
A commercial invoice, a packing list and the international CMR consignment note, which we issue. Goods arriving from outside the European Union also need the customs clearance documents.
